Warranty Information

OEM Warranty Clarification Consumers of filters are often told that an aftermarket brand replacement filter cannot be used in a machine while it is under warranty. The claim is made that use of an aftermarket brand will "void the warranty," with the statement or implication that only the original equipment brand of filters may be used. This tends to cast doubt on the quality of the aftermarket filter. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, the Clean Air Act, and general principles of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Act, a manufacturer may not require the use of any brand of filter (or any other article) unless the manufacturer provides the item free of charge under the terms of the warranty. If the consumer is told that only the original equipment filter will not void the warranty, they should request that the OE filter be supplied free of charge. If they are charged for the filter, the manufacturer may be violating the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act or other applicable law. It should be noted that the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is a U.S. federal law that applies to consumer products. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has authority to enforce the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, including obtaining injunctions and orders containing affirmative relief. In addition, a consumer can bring suit under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. --- Filter Manufacturers Council, Tech Bulletin 85-1R2 October 2005 Mission Filter Product Warranty Nission filter Corporation warrants all goods sold to be free from defects in material and workmanship. This warranty is valid for one year from date of invoice. Claims will not be honored if they are not made within one year from date of invoice. In the case of a warranty claim, the purchaser must notify Mission Filter in writing. Upon receipt of the notification, Mission Filter will either examine the goods at the site or issue a return authorization (RMA). If an RMA is issued, the goods must be returned per the shipping instructions provided by Mission Filter. Returns that are made without following the instructions provided by Mission Filter could lead to the claim being delayed or denied. When goods are found to be defective, Mission Filter's sole obligation under this warranty shall be to repair or replace such goods at their option without charge to the purchaser, or refund the purchase price of the goods. In no event shall Mission Filter be liable for indirect, consequential, or special damages. This warranty is exclusive and in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including, but not limited to warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose..
